We are so excited to have you beta test the Qwellband! Use the instructions below to help you out. Feel free to reach out with any questions during your beta test, we look forward to hearing your feedback!
After opening your package, inside the box you will find the Qwellband! You may also find aditional materials like a USB-C charging cable.
Remember to keep your box! You will want this when it is time to return the device.
Safety and handling precautions
The Qwellband is just a prototype. Keep that in mind and try to handle with care!
Please do not attempt to modify the device without talking to us first. Opening the device could lead to electrical shock.
The Qwellband uses small haptic coin motors to gently vibrate the head. Use at your own risk.
If you want to opt out, at anytime, let us know.
Powering & Charging
How to power on/off the device
slide the power switch to the on position to turn on. You should see the internal LED come on, and feel the headband buzz briefly.
Charging instructions (cable type, LED indicators)
Use a standard USB-C type charging cable.
When the battery is charging, you should see an LED flashing on the opposite side of the power switch.
When the battery is finished charging, The LED will no longer flash.
Battery life
Unknown. Test it out and see!
Estimate: 1.5 hours of continual max intensity vibration.
App Setup
Downloading the app
If you are a beta tester, you should receive an email with a link to download the beta testing app. If you did not, Please reachout to us: [email protected].
The app is not on the public App store or Google play store yet. You need a personal invite link to the beta test app.
Apple IOS users: download the Testflight app here. Open it. You should see "Qwell App" as a testflight app to download.
Andriod users: download the app from the link you were sent. Following the link you should see the following screens to install the app.
Click "download it on Google Play" then on the next screen click the "Install" button.
Opening the app for the first time
Opening the app for the first time you will see a promt to allow the app to access your location services. This is needed for bluetooth services to be used.
Select Allow after the promt "Allow Qwell to access your location"
Also select Allow after the promt "Allow Qwell to find Bluetooth devices"
Pairing the device via Bluetooth
Once the Qwellband is turned on, open the app and refresh the screen (the green button in the bottom right).
You should see a device pop-up. It may appear as "Unknown" or "Qwell".

How to wear the headband correctly
Although you can experiment and wear it however you like, it is intended to be worn with the battery pack on the back of the head like so:
Controlling the Qwellband With the app
Start by pressing the play button. Then select a mode. You can stop at any time using the pause button.
Normal mode - All the vibration motors are on at the same intensity level. (adjust with intensity)
Bilateral mode - The vibration alternates from left to right sides of the head. (adjust with intensity and speed)
Fade mode - The vibration fades from the lowest intensity to the set intensity level by the user. (adjust with intensity and speed)
Loop mode - The vibration loops around the head. (adjust with intensity and speed)

Other times when you want to lock in
Use it regularly every day
Use it for at least 10 minutes each day at a regular time (morning, evening or night) during the beta test
Towards the end of the beta test, make note if using it regularly helped to increase your attention
Make note of how it affects you

Does it distract you?
Are you able to study/work for longer periods of time without losing focus?
What is the intensity, speed and mode setting that helps you the most?
Write these things down and we will discuss what helped and what didn't afterwards

Trouble Shooting
Qwellband is not connecting to app
Make sure that the Qwellband is powered on, and has a charged battery.
Make sure that the app has location services enabled (this is required for bluetooth connections).
Make sure that bluetooth is turned on for your phone.
Try refreshing the page using the green refresh button on the bottom right.
Qwellband is connected, but not vibrating
Try pressing the play/pause button again. For vibrations to turn on the pause button should be displayed.
Select a mode. A mode must be selected before the headband will begin to vibrate.
